What Is ABA Therapy and How Is It Used in The Club?

 Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on understanding and improving behaviours that are meaningful to each child. ABA therapy helps children develop essential life and social skills by breaking tasks into small, achievable steps and reinforcing positive behaviours.

At Stepping Stones Together, we use ABA principles within a social club setting rather than a home-based programme. Our focus is on helping children build social communication, emotional regulation, and peer interaction skills in a natural, fun, and supportive environment. This means children learn through play, group activities, and real-life social situations, guided by trained behavioural consultants and one-to-one support staff.

While research shows that effective ABA therapy typically involves around 30 hours per week for optimal progress, our club adapts these principles into a social learning model that encourages children to apply ABA strategies in everyday social settings, helping them gain confidence, independence, and friendships.

How do you monitor my child programme or progress: 

 At Stepping Stones Together, we closely monitor each child’s progress to ensure their programme continues to meet their individual needs.

Our team completes data collection after every session, tracking the child’s achievements, challenges, and overall development. This information is reviewed by the BCBA consultants regularly and in-depth every five weeks, allowing us to adjust and update targets to reflect their progress and growth.

We also provide video footage at the end of each session, offering parents valuable insight into their child’s engagement, achievements, and interactions during activities.

This consistent monitoring and transparent communication help us work together with families to celebrate progress and set meaningful next steps.
